Ok i have read many reviews on both chipsets and i heard the newer 815EP chipset is better.. BUT Y??
I hear neither support ECC ram and the most u can have for both is 512mb. THat sucks...

So what is the alternative for these chipsets...PLEASE let me know
i am confused...
I would prefer chipsets that allow more than 512mb of ram and ones that support ECC.

the EP chipset doesn't have on-board video, which is something you probably don't need anyway.

yeah, 512mb limit is kinda bad for the i815 chipset. if you want to stay with intel chips, the only other feasible alternative would be the via apollo 133a...

I don't if this is the case with all motherboards with the 815EP,
but the CUSL2-C doesn't support ppga celerons... only the fc-ppga
processors are supported?!?

Thornc: i am assuming you want to know if the CUSL2-C supports celerons..
It does support them.

Supports only FCPGA Socket 370 processors Intel Pentium III with 100/133 MHz bus and Intel Celeron with 66 MHz bus

I believe I read somewhere that the 815EP will support the cut down Tualatin, the one that doesn't require it to have a 200MHz bus.

For Intel I'm still partial to overclocked BX motherboards...haven't found a real need for AGP4x yet.

Isn't the idea of staying with Intel to stay away from Via? ;)

No current stepping of the Intel i815(E/P) will support the Tualatin. The coming i815G/EG or i815EB is required to support the Tualatin.

Yes, you're right, current chipsets won't support Tualatin. However, Intel was (last I checked) going to release a slimmed down version of Tualatin (I believe it was codenamed Tualatin-E) that they said would run in 815EP, but not early revision 815E.

It doesn't matter which i815 mobo you get, the chipset will not support more than 512MB (which is more than you can make good use of, unless you're running Win2K). Btw, the CUSL2 allows you to populate its 3 dimm slots, but you still can't exceed 512MB.

LOOOOOOOOOOOOL

I was thinking the same thing!

IntelConvert:
I do want to run WIN2k and i need more then 512mb for future upgrades...know of any chipsets that will support this?!?
