aww... did your mommy and daddy tell you that?

Honestly, I'm sick of people saying that their only message is "we hate Bush." Do you actually read or listen to anything any of them are saying or do you just read 5-word headlines?
That is the message of the democratic party. They don't have a platform besides hate the republicans and anyone that thinks differently than they do.

Chess9 , you did a very good job of displaying exactly why the democrats won't win the next election. Thank you.

WAIT WAIT WAIT.

You're saying that chess, an obvious EXTREME party loyalist, gay-basher and all-around-hater of things that don't jive with his extreme far right views is in the right; and me, for believing that his views essentially represent the same views as those that supported lesser rights for blacks, women, etc.. back in the day, is in the wrong?

Honestly, did you read a word of what he said.

As for the Dem's, they have many platforms. READ any of their websites. What exactly is Bush's platform? Huge deficits? Huge spending? Larger government control? Bending over backwards for large corporations? Christianity is the right religion?

What?

And your ability to believe with Chess's ravings (because thats what they were, ravings) mistify's me. I have to believe that the majority of Republicans wouldn't. Unless the whole party is full of hate. And its amusing that its his country and if that ain't cool go somewhere else. Funny he'd be cooler with a dictatorship.

Compared to many of the liberals on this board, Chess9 seems to be pretty moderate.

That's balderdash. Sure there are many who hate Bush, especiially here, but that would be like saying all Republicans are like Ann Coulter.

Well that's the message the Republicans are trying to get out about the Democrats. It's rather simplistic and I'm surprised that the Republican leadership thinks so little of the American Voters to try and buffalo them with that BS. Maybe they believe that by trying to sell that malarkey it will detract from the accusations made by the Democratic party that Iraq was a mistake and that this Administration misled us about the reasons for invading and occupying that country.

Dan, you didn't get the memo; today's word of the day is:

Facetiousness.
Its hard to keep track of every member's beliefs to decide when sarcasm is being used and when it is not. My apologies.

Nope, Red, besides having to go to the dentists this morning all is right in my world.

That's just the way I read your post. You basically took what I said and repeated it about the republicans or in other words used the grade school taunt of 'that's not me, that's you.'

If you don't like it than call me an condescending asshole. Sometime you can tell me how that helped the discussion.

The major difference between yours and Red's comments is that Red provided an explanation, and you provided none.

So you don't think you were being a condescending asshole by spouting off childish rhetoric? Fine then, if that's the best you can do I apologize for thinking you could do better.

Well's lets look at it this way. Almost every Republican I've heard talking about the Dem's states that that is their message and that the American people won't go for that. I've never heard a Dem actually say "we hate Bush." Sure, they say that he's had horrible foreign policy (and lets face it we're less liked now then we were the moment after 9-11); they speak badly of his policies, etc.. Yes, they don't like the man, but that's not their platform. But the Republicans always say it is.

And why not? Its easier to stereotype and push that into the ground, that way people who don't care to pay much attention to things can just grab on to that stereotype and say "the dem's have no platform but we hate bush." They all have platforms, they all have websites that say where they're at on the issues, and believe it or not during the debates they don't just get up there and say how much they hate Bush, they actually talk about the issues.

Its much like how they painted Gore as a liar, with Rep's saying he said he invented the internet, even though he never said it.

Good grief, I was just kidding. I forgot to take my anti-psychotic meds this morning. So shoot me. :)

Everyone's struggling with the issues and what's best for the country. Almost all my friends are Republicans. I just got an email from a Republican City Commisioner who I've grown to like. My best friend is a rabid Republican (but is opposed to the war). My point is we are all in this together. No one has the market cornered on the truth. Except me when I'm off my meds. :)

Many of you don't remember Wombat Woman with whom I argued quite a bit. Well, off the board we had quite a few emails and though we disagreed politically I loved the woman dearly. I still miss her.... She's as funny as Red and Moonbeam. But some of you guys didn't treat her so pretty good.... :)

Anyway, I am sure guys I think are right wing wackos here would probably be some of my friends. You know the drill. We all have people we love who we argue with. (They're called wives.)

Gotta' run I just got a complimentary credit report, an offer for Viagra and some Penis Enlargement pills that look too good to pass up. :) At 61 you gotta' start shoring up the ol' body....

From what I hear, the message is "Bush Sucks", and "I'm going to raise taxes", followed by "big deficit", promply followed by "no comment", when asked how to fix the things Bush "screwed up". It sounds suspiciously like the standard "make love, not war", motto they all had in the Vietnam era.

The rest scream "stupid war!", then ramble on about how, with hindsight, they would have done things differently.

I don't hear a new message. The silence is thunderous. At least Kerry and Edwards are doing well. They have always been my favorites from the get-go as far as the candidates go.

Who are you listening to??

Honestly....have you watched a single debate? Have you read a single position from any of their websites? Or are you just grabbing on to the motto of the Republican spin campaign? Your overly-general stereotypes that in no way reflect what is actually going on is just ridiculous.

You're getting your information from what some nut conservative said without actually looking at what the Democratic candidates said and are proposing. Try watching one of the debates, instead of posting s*** you "hear"

Certainly you can. Bush does too much of the wrong things and not enough of the right things. It's that simple.

If you would be a little more temperate with your words in the first place, you woudn't have to spend so much time dodging them later. Just a friendly observation.

No, not really you don't. The message isn't that they hate him, the message is he NEEDS TO GO, as does the majority of his administration. It pretty much doesn't matter, as long as we start a changing of the guard. That's why the 'Anyone but Bush' bumper sticker is getting so popular.

lol, ive watched the debates, read some transcripts of debates ive missed, and thats pretty much what I get from the dems too.

Make no mistake though, im not in favor of a lot of what the President is doing [and has done], but the one issue we cannot afford to take lightly is the one I feel he is strongest on. You CANNOT let National Security be a paultry issue. Bush takes it seriously, and takes steps to prevent and punish international terrorism [unlike certian previous democrat presidents who let international terrorism go unpunished and unchecked (they're just examples of previous democrat leadership)]

so, basically, because Bush takes a strong stance on National Security, he gets my vote. I'm willing to put up with huge deficits, crappy medicare bills, and stupid immigrant laws because they can be rescinded by a future president [and hopefully something wortwhile can take their place]

oh, and another message I hear out of a lot of dems [not necessarily the dem leaders, but just die hard dems (or libs)] is how Bush is stupid or how he stole the 2000 election. Both of which are crap and are petty partisan attacks.

the democratic party needs to clean its act up [learn to speak like adults and stop the childish name calling] and stop pandering to far left environmental wackos, gay activist groups, animal rights activists, and civil rights groups. treat them all the same, and dont give any preferential treatment.

i mis stated the Democrat mantra in an earlier post---it is a trifecta of insults..

1) Bush is stupid.
2) Bush is a liar.
3) Bush is immoral

and the standard Democrat policy position..
"never met a tax we didn't like"

sorry for the misquote earlier.

You forgot (and so did I) "Bush stole the Election!"

I've seen all the debates, researched each candidate, including Al Sharton (Why did I bother????) as well as a few who are in dead last, or have dropped out.

I don't see any new messages other than they don't like Bush. Edwards as the lone candidate standing out by not mindlessly repeating the mantra.

Iowa, and now New Hampshire have shown that the voters are smarter than some candidates thought.

I don't buy it at all. Either you've done no research or you are too partisan to acknowledge anything about the Dems other than your canned mantra. You may not agree with their messages, but to pretend there aren't any (other than not liking Bush) is preposterous.
