what is THE definitive socketA hs/fan??

i think i know of two, but i don't know the name for it

one of em is an asymetric shape, all copper, has a u-shape from the side, lots of thin fins.

the other is a flat circle shape, it either comes in pure copper, or half copper half alluminum

whats better, and whats teh name for them both?

My guess is you're thinking of the Thermalright SLK-800, SK-7 and SLK-900 families, and then the Zalmans. If you want a visual guide on which are which, try http://www.svc.com or http://www.2cooltek.com for starters.

Sounds like your thinking of a Thermalright (SLK-800/900/947U or maybe an SP-97) and the Zalman CNPS 7000 series

The Thermalright's are probably when coupled with a high output fan (like a Tornado/Delta). There's no doubt an SP-97 with a 92mm Panaflo is killer, but when you're dealing with lower output, quieter fans, then I think the Zalman and Thermalright are pretty equal. Thats my opinion
