i think i know of two, but i don't know the name for it

one of em is an asymetric shape, all copper, has a u-shape from the side, lots of thin fins.

the other is a flat circle shape, it either comes in pure copper, or half copper half alluminum

whats better, and whats teh name for them both?

Sounds like your thinking of a Thermalright (SLK-800/900/947U or maybe an SP-97) and the Zalman CNPS 7000 series ;)

edit: whoops, thats a thermalright for that link

The Thermalright's are probably when coupled with a high output fan (like a Tornado/Delta). There's no doubt an SP-97 with a 92mm Panaflo is killer, but when you're dealing with lower output, quieter fans, then I think the Zalman and Thermalright are pretty equal. Thats my opinion :)
