if you were ticketed in a speedtrap, would u be able to get out of one?
tell me if this can be considered as one.
me driving on fwy towards a cop sitting idle under an overpass (bridge)
he is in the shade, i can't see him, while i'm driving in sunny waether.
is this a trap?

don't think you can get out of it...

I thought speed traps were more like one cop in a spot, and 5 other cops down the road pulling lots of people over that the first cop busted with radar.

We have an area in town where a cop car always sits, but no cop is in it...well, after a month or so, people get used to the car, and don't slow down...one day I drove by and there actually was a cop in there, and down the road 2 other cops were giving out tickets.

My definition of speed trap:

An abrupt change in speed limit in certain cities, especially on the interstate. Right past the speed limit signs, cops lurk behind trees, tall bushes, overpasses, etc.

A prime example is Sulphur, LA. The area is so bad that it was in the top 10 speed traps in the United States in a recent magazine. The speed limit before Sulphur is 70 MPH. All of a sudden it drops to 60 MPH for no apparent reason. The city is fairly small and the traffic on the off/on ramps is minimal. I've seen bigger cities in Texas with faster speeds.

The sole purpose of this speed trap is to search vehicles for drugs from what I hear...

That is not a speed trap.
Dedpuhl's definition is as close as you are likely to get.

Sounds exactly like Linwood, Ohio. It's a little suburb SW of Cleveland that is NOTORIOUS for putting in a speed trap in a 500 or so foot section of I-75.

Um, that's not a speed trap, that's a cop doing his job and trying to stay cool at the same time... (not that I think speed enforcement is a good use of someone's time, but...)

That was not a trap. A speedtrap is where the local constabulary generates revenues all out of porportion to their work. There are some towns near Gainesville Florida that are reccommended to be avoided for that reason. You were speeding, you got busted. Learn from it. You will be paying higher insurance rates for a long time to come.

around my town, there is a road which goes from 80km/h to 40km/h, and there is ALWAYS a cop sitting right in the bush waiting for people
