I have this chip on an MSI K7T-pro2-A....and i left everything at default settings...didn't overclock and the voltage is at 1.85V...which I thought was a little higher than it should be. What is the actual voltage?? I didn't get a chance to read the chip markings because the place I bought it from put the cpu on the board and tested it so I can get a 3 year warrenty from AMD.

My understanding was that all T-birds ran stock at 1.75 volts and all Durons at 1.60 volts. But I'm not an AMD expert by any means.

I found out that the default voltage is 1.70V. I can't believe the MSI K7T Pro2-A puts it at 1.85V default. I also read here at anandtech that up to 850mhz the T-birds are 1.70V and from 900 on its something like 1.75V default....

Default is 1.7v for T-Bird 750. I can run my 750@900 with 1.76v. This is measured with HW monitor. My Abit KT7 bumps the voltage up .04v over what you have it set in bios. 1.70v=1.74v. I have mine set at 1.725v in bios and it is really 1.76v for 900 Mhz. They did this for stability, but I can't see 1.85! Are you sure you have it right? Try lowering it. I can run mine at 1.86v at 950 Mhz but it runs about 2c higher.

I just lowered my voltage manually to 1.70V in the bios. I checked Sisoft Sandra and my cpu voltage is at 1.80V now. I don't see why this is..but I guess 1.80V is better than 1.85V. I don't plan on overclocking so that is why I asked about the voltage settings. I plan on leaving this chip at 850mhz until I feel the need to increase it....right now stability is the most important thing for me after all the BS i went through with my celeron566@850/905mhz on my crappy BF6 board.

You said the place you bought from put the cpu in the board it's possible they set the voltage at 1.85 volts.Maybe they were pretesting these combo's for overclocking?

i doubt it.....they pretested it to give me a 3 year warrenty...but I still don't understand why the voltage is 1.85 default.
