What is the deal with BFG and pure video?

As topic states, my video card in my main rig died. I have future plans for an overhaul and a HTPC, so I'm going to just pick up my future HTPC card and use it in my main rig for now. Since it is for a HTPC, pure video support is very important to me. I was under the impression that all 6600GT and 6800 non-ultra cards fully supported pure video. However, I've heard that BFG screwed up on at least their 6800 non-ultra. Is this true, and if so does it apply to their 6600gt cards as well?

I want to buy locally, so I can get my computer on its feet as fast as possible.

I was in the process of deciding between:

BFG 6600GT OC
BFG 6800 OC

However, if either or both of these cards don't support pure video, I guess I'm going to have to look at a different company and buy online (please, don't make that be the case)

6600GT (NV43) AGP/PCI-E fully supports PureVideo. The 6800NU (NV40) AGP does not fully support PureVideo. The 6800NU (NV41) PCI-E does support pure video.

Also ... I'm not sure how this is a BFG screwup.

So wait a second. 6800NU AGP cards from other manufacturers support PureVideo?

One thing you could do if Purevideo is important to you and gaming fps is as well is buy a 6600GT SLI rig. PureVideo and ~6800GT performance, for 6800GT price. Can't beat that.

Has anyone had to use BFG's warranty service? I'm looking at this 6600GT PCI-E card too, and wonder how reliable it is. What about PNY, which would be better between the two? PNY's warranty is only 3 years.

I had to RMA my 6800GT, I called them up, told em it was broken and they didnt even ask any other questions. Just told me to send it to them, and they would take care of it. It's currently on the way back to me. to BFG

Well I shipped it out on the 12th, and its due to arrive back to me on the 24th, so thats about 8 business days. As for what was wrong with it, it has two fans on it and one of them cracked and stopped spinning, making the card to run really hot and crash during game play.

heh thats pretty severe lol, hope you asked for a reference cooled BFG back as the reference cooler seems to be better and quieter than BFG's attempt

Hmm, I didnt even think to ask for that. However, when both the fans were working, I did have it OCed quite a bit, and it always ran really quiet, and very cool.
