not considering pay, the prestige, how many girls are in it, how easy or hard it is, and based on nothing other than the simple fact the its applications and the things you can learn are just simply above others in "coolness"

Having said that, allow me to eliminate Agricultural and Biological Engineering

I would say Mechanical engineering is up there

Electronics Engineering would get my vote..

though Industrial Engineering supposedly is in the most demand (by far)

AEROSPACE, without a doubt.

Electrical engineering: circuits and crap... really interesting...
Industrial engineering: imaginary engineering
Aerospace engineering: airplanes, rockets, spacecraft... fvck yeah!

Random person: "what's your major?"
Software engineer: "software engineering"
Random person: "wow... software is neat... I guess"

Random person: "what's your major?"
Aerospace engineer: "aerospace engineering"
Random person: "so you like work on planes and rockets and stuff? are you a rocket scientist?"
Aerospace engineering: "technically, yes" :)

Seriously, if ME is high on your list, you'd LOVE aerospace engineering. There's just so many things you can do with; it's even more versatile than ME.

Here are some of the things my Aero E friends are doing now:
-One of them works in mission control at NASA for shuttle missions
-One works for Lockheed Skunkworks on conceptual aircraft development
-A couple of guys I know work for other NASA centers - one works at Dryden in flight testing. One of them got to work on the X-43 (fastest air-breathing aircraft ever) control system on an internship.
-Another guy works on the JSF
-I know someone working on the F-22
-I personally work for Boeing (my last semester of school... interned there and going back before grad school)

If you actually think designing a computer processor would be fun, then go EE or Computer E. If you want to plan a spacecraft mission, flight test an aircraft, or engineer rockets, go for Aero E.

I know a lot of different engineers at school and I can sum it up like this: I have met several ME who wish they were Aer E because the aerospace guys work on cooler stuff, but I've never met a single Aer E who wished he was an ME.

materials - the rest of the world is at our feet, cause advancements need new materials :D want a more efficient jet engine? well you need better materials so you can burn hotter. want a lighter car? materials. stronger engine block? materials :D

ae is pretty cool, but it's people like you that keeps me away from it. I'm ME and we take a lot of the same classes with AEs and most, not all, but most aes are douchbags. walking around like they own the place. it's amazing how they think they're that much smarter because they have to take a few extra classes.

I can also sum it up for you, I have never met a ME that wished he was an AE, if we wanted to be AE, we would've.

My roommate is MatE. I don't know how people like that stuff... it's so dry. I guess if you like phase diagrams and working with pieces of ceramic then it might be okay.

I came into school as engineering undeclared (hadn't decided type of engineering). The thing I like about aerospace is that not only do you learn a lot about the specific areas (aerodynamics, structures, controls, propulsion), you get an overall systems view that you just don't get in ME.

right now im working towards characterizing some ceramics that have NEVER been tested before :D
