I love snowboarding. I love it more than any other sport. I want to do it AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.

Where should I move, what should I do, to ensure that I can snowboard ALL weekend, and possbly every day ?

BTW...pretend I have NO MONEY AT ALL.

Should I be a snowboard instructor on a mountain ? Or just work the slopes ?

Snowboarding definitly kicks @ss. We have some nice slopes out in Oregon but nothing like Colorado or BC.

Good. But it is not all about being good. It is about the medical training in combination with Skiing.

Snowboard parollers are fewer in number than the skiiers, but they are just as welcome. Be aware, one of the requirements is being able to stop in a controlled mannor in a straight line while bing hookled to a 500 lb sled. Some people just flatg out do not have the strength, and this is much harder on a snowboard.

So to your local hill, and stop by the ski patrol office. They usually have a base at the bootom of the hill ( some larger hills have them in the middle or top too )

I went though a season of ski training to get in to pass the ski portion of the test. The medical is ongoing.

you can't snowboard while on duty for ski patrol
if you wanna snowboard everyday, move to a ski resort, get a night job and snowboard all day
many employers in resort towns will give you a seasons pass

Maybe I should specify that I am a flatlander from Illinois. The hill I patrol at has a 250' vertical drop, which is about the size of some moguls out in CO. :p

I will ask our leader if it is just the hill allowing it, or if it is national.

IIRC, Antarctica only gets about 4" of snow per year. I guess there are snow banks though.

About 4 or 5 years ago a guy in Colorado lived in a snow cave for 2 years so he could go skiiing. At most resorts in CO you should beable to get a season pass of a couple of hudnred dollars. This is the cheapest way. Most resorts will give workers a free pass but you work mostly during the day. Also at most resorts in CO housing will be a major expense that's why I suggest the snow cave.

this is what my cousin did when she was poor. She would buy a ticket (she didn't ski enough for a season ticket) and put it on a keychain-type ring. Then she would ski for half the day, and sell it to someone else for 1/2 what she paid. Basically payed $20 bucks for a good morning of skiing.

I've seen ski patrol on snowboards here in Vermont. Granted they are extremely rare, like maybe 1 or 2 out of the whole squad.

And Taos (along with Alta, Mad River Glen, and two others I forget) just flat out don't allow snowboarders, so that isn't a really good way to figure this one out.

You have to Ski for one thing, a boarder cant be on Ski Patrol. And you dont get paid, you get a free lift Ticket. In BC they get paid, but only if you are on the bomb squad (you get to blow up the slopes to tirgger snow slides). Most places don't pay their Ski Patrol. Working the Lifts would garentee you skiing everyday for at least an hour or so. Most of the time you split a lift with a few other people and you take half hour shifts. And you get days off and such.

You're absolute best bet is to be a snowboard instructors.. they accept any ability, as long as you can carve.

They mostly want younger people, kids, teens, so that they can relate with most of the students.

The pay won't be great, but you'll board for free and likely get a sponsored snowboard and coat. (at least around here they do).

According to the National Ski Patrol you can be a snowboarder. At this page they mention the roles of Ski Patrol. Some are open to snowboarders.
