What is the cheapest solution for a 3007WPF HC

I have a couple 3007WPFs but the GPUs are a 8800GT and I believe a 7800GT. I want to set them up for moderate gaming for my kids.

I have no immediate plans for an eyefinity setup unless I find another 3007 at a great price so want to buy 2 GPUs.

Current games for the kids are Transformers and Dirt2, I may pick up Mass Effect2. I also want to run FIFA10 and PES10 (which runs alot better than FIFA10 already).

3007WPF's are ridiculously expensive. If you own a "couple" of these super expensive monitors, you must have some decent money so I would recommend at the minimum getting a Radeon 5850 if you want to game at the native resolution of the monitor.

I'd say no lower than a 5770 so 4870 or 4890 are possible options however ideally you'd want a 5850 or higher. If you have a SLI mobo you could also possibly get a second 8800GT for decent frame rates though the 7800 won't cut it at 2560 x 1600.

At least a 5850 would be my recommendation. Like gigahertz said, if you can afford those monitors, $300 for a video card shouldn't be a big deal.

looks like the 5770 might be my best budget bet. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I usually don't mind spending good money on monitors, cases, and power supplies since they usually last at least a few rebuilds. BTW I was able to pick up both monitor for about $600 each.

Not bad. At that resolution Mass Effect 2 (and other titles) will most likely choke with full eye candy and AA. If you're not worried about having the best of the best, though, the HD 5770 should be adequate (and significantly cheaper).

Enjoy.

Yeh that's an insane deal for those monitors.
btw here's a benchmark of dirt 2 with different cards:

5770 can play at 2560 x 1600 in DX 9 no problem on highest settings without AA. It's not enough for DX 11 at that resolution, but you could get a second later on if your mobo supports it and once more DX 11 games are out. Otherwise you'd need the 5850 for DX 11.

At a resolution that high I think you can get away without any AA though.

Just curious, where did you get them for $600 each? That is a steal, I would never pay more then $300 usually for a monitor, but for a 30" monitor at 2560 x 1600 for $600, I would have to buy it out of principle.

I got one from our own FS/FT but he only wanted to sell locally to fund a school/work project, I got another off the local Craigslist from a mortgage broker who was selling everything of value for some quick cash. Obviously neither were new but both are flawless with no dead/stuck pixels.
