I'm talking about an occasional day off not something like 4x10 shifts. I vote Monday because you start with a 3 day weekend which nicely leads into a short week.

I think I'd go with Friday. If this is like a lottery where you randomly get your chosen day off, picking Friday could turn into a four day weekend when combined with a holiday. Mondays you might just lose your bonus day.

Either Friday or Monday. IMO it's pointless to have a day off in the middle of the week just to have to go back to work the next day, but usually those are the best days to take off if you want to go somewhere that's crowded on a Friday/weekend, like a ski resort.

I'd go with Monday.

Even though having Friday off is also a 4 day weekend, that feeling of knowing you have to go work tomorrow every Sunday night just kinda blows. It's an awesome feeling when you don't have that feeling.

Wednesday. Hardly anyone has Wednesday off so I could do grocery shopping and take care of any other errands with minimal crowds/traffic.

Eh, maybe Wednesday I guess. Monday does give you an extra day for the weekend, but I kinda would like Wednesday better in that it breaks up the week.

Also, lol @ the highland option. Poor highland :cryingcat:

Definitely Monday for me.

Having Monday off goes you a three day weekend. In addition, Monday is the least "busy" day of the week (at least where I live). If you have to run errands or just want to bum around town Monday is the best day to do it. It's like having the town to yourself.

Friday sucks. Everyone is driving around like a maniac, getting ready for the weekend. I'd rather be at work.

For a regular 8-5 job, I'd say Monday. Most of the time those are the busy times at work, so you get to skip that, and extend your weekend.

I work shifts though so for me it's different, I tend to take floaters when I'm off for a small stretch then have to work a single 8 in the middle of that stretch and then have more time off. If I take that day then I can extend my time off.

Tuesday or Wednesday is the correct answer. Too many possible holidays fall on the other days of the week with Monday probably being the worst.

In my case, Tuesday is the best day, but that's only because I have a few Wednesdays that overlap...of course a 3 day weekend would be great....but I'm looking to maximize days off, not consecutive days off. I'm assuming you can always supplement that with vacation days, when needed.

my favorite day off is wednesday, very low traffic on freeway, disneyland has smaller lines, snowboarding with less people, if you do go places most likely less people than monday or friday, but i guess it depends on what you do with your other days off, if you want 3 in a row to travel i suppose friday or monday is the only option (if you have sat sunday already) monday's have more holidays so will you get paid more if work on a holiday? have kids in school that will be off on mondays? fridays easier day at work since everyone is in relax mode?

I went with the highland option because it's true.

Btw, I was promised a dollar-per-post way back when. Still waiting for the first cheque! :colbert:

I'm of the opinion that work only applies to things you don't enjoy. Just about everything satisfies the technical definition of work being expending energy, but only things that suck are work.

To me it's not so much about what the work is, but who it's for. Any work I do that's for myself is going to be more enjoyable than work I do for somebody else. I like working with technology and computers, but I actually got out of IT because I realized I hated doing it for others. When you're doing stuff on someone else's terms and on their time line it's not really enjoyable anymore. Having to be at a certain place at a certain time also sucks, which basically describes most jobs.

With Wednesdays off, you have two Mondays.

And you're all assuming that one has Saturday and Sunday off, which isn't always the case. I preferred to work weekends so I had my days off during the week.
