What is the best way to sell a computer monitor?

I have a pretty nice Dell IPS monitor that I don't need. It's in mint condition and has no burnt out pixels. Can I risk selling it on eBay? I was thinking Craigslist, but my guess is that the buyer would want to see that it operates fine and doesn't have any burnt out pixels, and I'm not keen on inviting a stranger to my place. Not sure I should take a computer monitor into a starbucks to do an exchange either.

Ebay. Craigslist or Letgo/OfferUp would work better for items that didn't need to be plugged in to test, though I guess taking a monitor to Starbucks isn't that crazy. 😛

Alternatively, if you have a car and a inverter, you could still do an pickup option in a public place. Use a laptop, or a Chromecast or other HDMI stick to run through test images.

Unless it's a big professional display that's worth a lot of money these days I just sell (at heavily discounted prices) or straight up gift to family or friends/coworkers. I go through enough nice stuff that my old stuff is generally desirable to someone around me and I'd rather they get it than some stranger. For small, value dense stuff I'll eBay. Craigslist is not worth dealing with outside of cars IMO.

It looks like i can get a car power adapter for less than $20. Do you know how I can tell if my car can provide enough electricity? The car has a 12v adapter on it but how can i see how many amps it puts out and see how many volts/amps the monitor needs?

your car's cigarette lighter socket/power socket SHOULD support an inverter up to about 150 watts. (of course, each manufacturer is a bit different...)
