I have version 6.0 and want to do cool things with it. What is the best way to learn how to use it?

But there are SOOOOOO many things that I have no idea what they do. No good courses or help sites maybe? The ones that I saw were blowering.

Just keep playing with it..look in the help file -- I think there's some tutorials in there.

Just keep experimenting. I got 7.0 very recently and have no one to teach me either. What I do is, I have a two pictures that I try and mess with them a little every day (one with people and one two cartoon characters). I get an idea of something simple I'd like to do to them and then try and accomplish it.

And you know what?? I'm learning something new every day. I'm not artistic in the least. But I'm pleasently suprised with myself. So just be patient. You'll pick it up little by little. If you like, just do a Googe search for Help with your version of Photoshop. And like CadetLee said, the help file is just that.....very helpful. I've learned more from it than anything else.

Focus on simple things right now. Get good at the basics. Small victories, my son. Small victories. :)

And...?

I started from scratch and I'd consider myself an expert. Sure tutorials can teach you how to do some things, but by only going through tutorials and how to do's, you'll never learn the interface.

I learned most of what I know about Photoshop from experimenting with it. However, I also picked up some stuff from books and a couple of free classes.

You might check around and see if you have a community college or adult school that offers free classes in stuff like this. Also, some of the books I have used include:

The Photoshop WOW! Book

Interface Design With Photoshop

Photoshop Type Magic

Photoshop Classroom In A Book (training manual put out by Adobe)

I have yet to learn a lot but, I can tell you to start playing with all the tools. Once you get that down, you'll be able to look at a picture and say, "Hey, they used this tool to get that effect, and this tool to bring it together, I can do that!" and so fourth and so on. Just practice with the tools and get to know what they can do.
