You know...like hiding the pron from the ever-curious girlfriend, and other sensitive things ;) Now i'm not talking about encryption...too long and painful. I just want to hide stuff so others can't find them with a simple search and so forth. (i.e. something slightly better than just changing the properties to hidden files).

I guess you could hide it in a passworded zip file. Not too much you can do because a simple search for *.jpg would kill you.

I think that you can use Partition Magic or other similar software to make a hidden/secret partition that is only accessible with password. Create a partition just for all your top-secret files. That should keep all the highly classified stuff away from your girlfriend. It also helps keeping hackers and online companies from peeking into your private stuff. When you finally make the mistake and decide to get married, you will be able to quiclky cover your tracks and bury your past. Just delete that partition or format it. You can also migrate that partition to a new drive when you upgrade.

Transfer all the pron onto cds and then hide them under your mattress. (Burn it) err onto a disk

So far looks like the best idea is to use an NTFS partition. Set up NT4/5(2K) and use NTFS with it, and set 9x or whatever else to boot defaultly. That way whenever you want to access "those" files, just boot into NT.

copy them to \windows\system\sys32ini or something like that. make a sub dir like : \windows\system\sys32ini\dll for all your jpg files and rename them *.dll if you wanna view just rename back
put all your mpg files in something like:
\windows\system\sys32ini\sys and rename

Good luck

Heheh...nope, just trying to protect against an uncomfortable discovery. If mom did find it, she would first have to travel 600 miles, then I'm pretty sure she would enjoy it.

I have a program called Invisible folder, its supposed to make any folder you designate as invisible ie, the only way to see it is to run the program and then activate the folder again. I've only used it once, and couldnt get it to work wortha damn. I think it was probably a short between the keybaord and the chair. Anyways, i dont have the link, but if you want I can try to find it and emial it to you....Provided I even kept it.....But, lemme know if you want I will try and find it!

Put it on a seperate physical drive and take the drive out of your BIOS and/or put it on a seperate partition and use DI to hide it.

Two words:
MAGIC FOLDERS

It's the best little program ever made...just pick folders U want to hide like Internet Explorer (hide those bookmarks and history lists!) or any folder and everything is automatically hidden upon startup till you use your password to unlock them. I have nothing to hide, of course, :0
