What is the best variable speed fan for overclocking?

I went to SVC and I see they have they have the Thermaltake Smart Case Fan 2 (21-76CFM at 17-48dB) and the YS-Tech Variable 3-pin (10-49CFM at 18-40dB). I see a lot of people using both fans. Which one is better?

YS Tech's is awesome. I went from a generic heatsink/fan to slk-800 with the YS variable and my idle temps dropped 20 degrees !!!

Yes the SLK-800, and 900 are truly awesome heatsinks. At over 1 pound of of solid copper (567 gm.) they better be!! I use a 92mm Panaflo 2850 rpm on my 900 (very quiet) and it tops out at only 47c. full load. Not bad at all for a 800MHz overclock. I could use a screamer fan and get another 5+ degrees in cooling, but I'll take slightly higher temps to avoid unbearable fan noise.

dunno how or when... it runs SUPER slow now no matter how i adjust the rheothing....

I don't have one in front of me, but try removing or adding the jumper on the lead for the temp sensor.
I think this is your problem.

The YS-Tech has a nice dial to change the fan speed. How does the Thermaltake work? All I see is a little resister add-on.

I really like my Sunon Smart Fan. There is a diode in the fan that controls the speed. It is so cool to hear it speed up while playing games or benchmarking, and quiet back down when I am just surfing the web. It gives the impression that it is actually "smart"!
