Nobody knows what a Delmonico cut is. Not definitely, I'd say. I think ribeye and top sirloin are the 2 contenders.

Can you explain what a Delmonico cut is? I'd like to know. :)
The steak served by the Delmonico, the restaurant. What I meant to get at is that nobody's sure what cut they used (use?).

I really like NY Strip. Around my neck of the woods I can get a NY strip for ~~$3-$4 a pound, nicely marbled. Let it marinate for 12-24 hours and you have an awesome steak....

'Round here(Iowa) NY Strip goes for upwards of $10-$12 a pound fresh cut at a meat locker. Too rich for my blood.

Porterhouse is a great cut or Boneless Sirloin.

If your a good cook go for the Porterhouse, if not go for the boneless sirloin.

Nothing beats a tri-tip with garlic salt and pepper. :D

Seared till it's just under medium rare. Now that's a good steak!

Filet mignon are filets cut from the tenderloin area of beef. They refer to the same type/cut of beef. The word "mignon" in French means cute or darling. Filet mignon refers to the specific cut for the steak - small "cute" filets from the tenderloin.

But back to the topic - Ribeye followed by T-bone are my favorites to cook at home for an everyday dinner.
