Agreed.

Azeurus just isn't worth it anyway you cut it. Bit Torrent SHOULDN'T take up as many CPU cycles as Azeurus takes up. By all means try Azeurus out for yourself. Cue up a couple BT downloads and see for yourself how resource hungry it is.

uTorrent or BitComet

ditto...I use BitComet and I love it

Azureus > *

No other client comes close, they may only take up less memory... but when you run it off of another computer who cares?

Doesn't use much at all in the way of resources for me, but then I'm able to do simple tasks like updating my JRE at java.com 😉

 for uTorrent. I switched from Azureus and I'm glad I did. The only thing I miss from Azureus is the double pane for downloading and seeding/completed torrents. I don't miss the 300+ megs of memory it used.

To those who prefer Azureus over uTorrent, why? I wouldn't mind the larger memory footprint if it was doing something useful, but performance seems to be the same with uTorrent and the interface is still good.

Is it any wonder someone who responds without reading also can't be bothered updating Java? 😀

uTorrent is an amazing little program. Kudos to the Ludwig guy that made it. Very talented. It has so many features yet is fast and efficient. I too used Azureus since the beginning but I don't miss a single feature of Azureus that is not in uTorrent. Maybe cause I'm not into all of that advanced stuff in Azureus, but there is plenty of configuration options in uTorrent. I like how you can limit seeds and peers connections, not just total connections as in Azureus. I know DHT is supported in uTorrent... not sure if there is another tracker-less mode that only Azureus uses... if so that's about it's only advantage.

I've always had my Java updated.. it never made a huge difference on memory usage. In fact it usually used 100-200mb, which isn't a problem since I never leave it running when playing games, but that is a pretty ridiculous amount of usage compared to uTorrent which has nearly the same exact interface and features.

Have to wonder what you mean by keeping Java updated, I'm thinking it's along the lines of "yeah, I have that jovo thing installed, I think". I have an older system that I built almost four years back. I keep things updated though, and I don't even notice when Azureus is running, as it uses next to no cpu cycles and very little ram as well. Further, it supports SafePeer, which as a privacy advocate I like having.

ABC is the best one out there. Azureus would be good if it wasn't so buggy (at least it was for me). Otherwise, just stick with a basic one like bitcomet.
