Yuppers, just ask dubya, he loves the prime minister.
read about halfway down.
As you can see, Bush did not actually identify the Prime Minister of Canada as "Jean Poutine." He merely failed to correct a man whom he believed to be a legitimate Canadian reporter. Regardless, the story that "Bush thinks our PM's name is Poutine" is still widely believed by a lot of Canadians.(Talking to Americans host Rick Mercer approaches George W. Bush from a crowd of reporters)
MERCER: Governor Bush, a question a Question from Canada? Question from Canada?
Prime Minister Jean Poutine said he wouldn't endorse any candidate [but] he says you look like the man who should lead the free world into the 21st century.
GOV. BUSH: Really?
MERCER: Yeah, so what about that? How's his endorsement?
GOV. BUSH: Well, I appreciate his strong statement. He understands I believe in free trade, he understands I want to make sure our relations with our most important neighbor to the north of us, the Canadians, are strong, and we'll work closely together.
