I currently am running win2k with an philips acoustic edge and I have been haveing a lot of problems with it. Does anyone know of a cost effective sound card that works well with win2k and where I can get it from?

what type of problems are you having with your AE soundcard?

I'm currently using one in Win2k and I'm having no problems whatsoever, it sounds great!

Make sure to enable hardware acceloration. I think by default it is off in win2k.

Go to control panel.-->sounds and multimedia-->look under advanced I believe and make sure the bars are pushed all the way up.

My recommendation is the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz. It packs the best sound for the buck. If you can afford it, go for the Hercules GTXP. It has the same DSP as the Santa Cruz and has an outstanding breakout box with all the connectors you need to build home theater dream system. Either way, you're gunna get great sound.

I can't honestly recommend a SB card anymore, given their notable compatibility problems. This may have been fixed on the Audigy cards, but these are still overpriced as compared to the superior sounding Crystal DSP cards above.
