I bought a dvd drive from another member on these forums for 20.00. I paid him on the 9th of November and I messaged him on the 13th. He said he did not mail the item yet and that he would mail the drive the next day. Ok well i have been waiting and waiting and I PM him twice and he does not reply to my messages.

Finally, I dispute the transaction through paypal. And then i receive a response from him.

He said that he wasnt trying to screw me over and that it costs him 17.00 to ship the 20.00 drive. I feel bad but man, us priority mail flat rate only costs 9.00. Also, through my own fedex account shipping a similar package would only cost me 6.00.

Here is the situation. I needed the drive sooner. And now i no longer need it. I still have not received the item and i he did say he sent the drive.

So my question is. would most people take the hit on the drive if it eventually arrives. Or should they send it back for taking so damn long. or should they keep the drive and provide a negative response on heatware.

what should i do.

Seriously i have never never had a problem with anyone on these forums. Especially someone with great heat. Hmm what should i do?

couldn't you have bought a brand new dvd drive from a store for $20 if you needed it that bad? I don't understand why people who need something right away buy from ebay or on a forum...

he finally mailed on the 20 of November. I really wished he emailed me first before mailing it late. Also, he said he did mail it earlier through fedex but he got it returned. i dont know why he didnt communicate with me about the first return i thought he could at least send me the tracking number. I am not kidding when i say that i have received hundreds of packages through fedex and i havent received a problem.

i think i am pretty laid back but i thought was a bit ridiculous.

you are right. like i said everything bought on these forums has been great. also ebay has been great. and as a ebay seller i have always shipped items within 24 hours. so i did not think it would be a problem. also i thought buying something 2 weeks in advance would be enough time to get the drive.

What was the reason it was returned from fedex? 9 times out of 10 when someone says that, they are full of crap and just buying time.

The shipping costs are his own problem. If you don't work that into a deal, it's your responsibility to get it out no matter what the cost is. Should have thought of that earlier. That's the cost of doing business on the internet.

Did you express the concern that you needed the drive ASAP?

Yup. The return by Fedex story was just smoke up your a$$. Sounds like the seller was/is dragging his feet for some reason. Did you express to the seller that you needed the drive by a certain date and you both agreed?

Edit: If you haven't already, you might want to post this in the FS/T forums as well. Get more feedback from active traders there and maybe bring the seller into the discussion.

This is the right way to do it. However, I'm sure my lazy-ass would take the 20.00 hit rather than hassle with it.
