What is the best software for editing home movies ?

I am a noob with video editing and was hoping to get an idea as to what is the best software that I can use to capture the video to the computer and then edit it

Any info is appreciated.

adobe premeire pro for advanced stuff....and beleive it or not, ive had alot of luck with windows movie maker for basic stuff

Or you can try Adobe Premire Element for beginner stuff.

Premiere Elements is actually really good for home movies.

I still love and use Adobe Premeire Pro 7

I for one still use Premire 6.0 cuz Pro version runs on Windows XP I am not ready to upgrade OS.
