Me and the Wife are going to try to sell our car on our own. I want to place an online add for it with a couple pics and so forth. This is our first time selling a vehicle outright, so if anyone has any tips or recommendations

I know of a couple but I was curious what people thought was the best site of all

some sites that I know of

autotrader

cars.com

carsoup

autobytel

for all of these I liked autotrader the best...that is where we bought our 4runner off of...

any help would be apprecaited

Thanks

Two important pieces of advice BEFORE listing your car for sale.

1) Get it professionally detailed inside/out, this should cost around $150 - $250 worth every penny.
2) Take at least 3 good pictures of the car inside/out, people love pics!

I sold our last car in the newspaper, it was priced about the same as the others.
Within 1 day it sold and I had 15 offers, most of them said the pictures REALLY helped sell it.

How did you manage to get the pics of the car in the newspaper ? As far as detailing the car I think that is a good idea...but 200 bones is alot of dough

First you place an ad with a concise description.

My local newspaper, The Oregonian displays the print ad like this:
1991 Toyota Camry LE $3000, auto, clean, 1 owner
runs great insert other BS here 503-239-6969 Ross
See pics at OregonLivePics.com

When you go to the web site it asks you to enter the sellers phone number, then BAM you see 3 pics.

Here's another (even better) alternative, get a domain from NameSecure.com (I think .info domains are FREE or very very cheap) and I will host it for free until your car sells. This way you can use HTML, FrontPage, design it how you like it, include the VIN number, complete specs, dozens of pics, etc.

Let me know if you are interested.
