oy vey.

i don't think there's a 'best' religion, but the ones that teach personal enlightment (as opposed to giving them all your money, restricting your diet, and not 'being allowed' to do certain activities) are ideal.

I thought the same thing. I haven't been here (ATOT) that long but it seems like most of this person's posts are some far out ideas or something stupid that is an obvious attempt to get people upset. Maybe this is common?

The best religion is the absense of it. B/c there is no religion, there is nothing.

I'm asking a serious question and this maybe this isn't the topic to put it in but I'm just curious that those of you who don't believe in religion or don't believe in heaven/hell, isn't it sort of a depressing existence then on this earth? If this is all you have, then sure you can have fun but when you die that's it?!? To me that is horrible. I also think that when someone dies that if you don't believe in heaven and think that is the end of the person/being forever it must be the most crushing thing I can imagine. With Christianity I'm an very sad that a person has died but am also happy b/c that person is now free from suffering and pain and is in the best place imaginable. I thought of this b/c recently a friend's father died and I can only imagine what goes through the head of those who think there is nothing more.

"A person should not believe in an -ism; he should believe in himself. I quote John Lennon, 'I don't believe in Beatles, I just believe in me.' Good point there. He was the walrus. I could be the walrus and I'd still have to bum rides off of people. "

To tell the truth, I do believe in the existence of a soul. However, when someone dies he just that - dies IMO. His brain etc dies, everything the person ever knew or came through is vanished. Death isn't a half-type thing. It's just that - death. So it pretty much doesn't matter if you think you're going to hell or heaven. I'm sure that after death even if there's left a soul and it goes somewhere, it won't be able to perceive anything, like ideas of heaven and hell and visual images such as those people imagine what it will be like when they die, b/c it won't, I'm pretty sure about that (at least for me).
