What is the best programming language to start with?

IMHO:

Learn C/C++
Figure it out to the point you can do atleast linked lists.

Then start learning Java. java is the future, even embedded systems(real time) will be java down the road.

Hi YOu might not have heard about this. But this is a wonderful programming language which comes with an in-built database, no server maintenenace, quick to install, easy to write. And the buzz word is HTML/OS. I exactly made the same expression which you are doing now. But i have been developing on it for the past 1 year and tell you what it can do anything which you expect other programing languages to do. The coding is so simple, as i was working on Java Server side before, i am amazed to see how easy it is to work in HTML/OS.
