What is the best program to test stability?

Madonion keeps crapping out on me...even when it's not OC'd. But is 3dmark the best program? Or should i try something else?

There was a topic on this a few days earlier. 3Dmark is not a good one to use by itself as an indicator of stability because it has too many incompatibilities (because it stresses video related things like AGP and video card), especially with via chipsets to be a good program.

Prime95 and CPU Stability Test 6.0 were programs people said they had good results with.

how long should i run prime 95 and cpu stability test 6.0...and between the two...anyone have a preference?

I test stability by running prime95 for 48+ hours. I think that is enough time to weed out any problems that may be CPU related.

I would run both. run one for a couple of days and then the other. They won't bother you, since they run at pretty low priority. Sometimes errors don't show up until several days of running these programs.

Yes, run Prime95, the program is vey sensitive to unstability of a CPU. It will generate some 'round-up' errors if it's unstable.

You may also want to try the distributed.net RC5 client. It will also 100% utilise the CPU and generate the highest temp for your CPU.
