What is the BEST program to test RAM for defects?

My computer has been having some problems. I had one of my 2 sticks of RAM go bad in my computer and sent it back to Crucial (2 computers wouldn't even post with the stick of RAM). With one stick, even after reformating, I have been having explorer errors and some strange Warcraft III errors. I have a strange feeling that the other stick of RAM may be bad also.

I have tested my RAM with Memtest86 and it has shown no errors, but it also showed no errors with my defective RAM in my computer and my "non"-defective RAM (the computer would work with both sticks in, but not post with just the one in. As stated previously, I tested this bad stick in two different computers).

So, what is the best program to test my RAM?

I don't know what your problem was with it but memtest86 has always been solid for me in stressing and determining errors...

What was defective about the ram?? Are you sure it was nothing else?? Tested it and had it fail on another system??

Memtest86 has been the best testing program that I've used. It has always picked up errors that the other apps have missed. You have to run all eleven tests though. Let them run looped for at least 6+ hours. I've had memory test fine with the basic series of tests but show errors only after running all the tests for an extended period of time.

Strange, then perhaps something else it at fault...

And yes, that first stick was FOR SURE defective. I was getting tons of corrupt files, reboots, and my system would even just automatically shut down.

Memtest86, with my bad stick and good stick in reported 0 errors. I couldn't test it with just my bad stick, as my system would not post with that stick in (and my other system would not post with just that stick in also).

I have ran Memtest86, all tests, for 12 hours+ with my current 256 in there and it reports no errors.

Maybe the RAM logic itself isn't defective, it's just some interaction with your system.
