Black Sabbath did start metal. They were the only metal band in 1970. I wont listen to any of the new metal at all. Old metal owns new metal, period. Black Sabbath, Riot, Quiet Riot, Mercyful Fate, Iron Maiden, Accept, Saxon, Demon, Judas Priest. I can go on if I wanted to....
Good stuff & Thin Lizzy was always one of my favs...

🙂 Can't forget Anthrax. ANTHRAX is awesome!!! Awesome 80's metal!

Then he will prolly start making good music again...

LMAO

hows about a small bottle to start. 😉

metallica. i'm not a metal fan with the exception of their popular songs that i heard enough on the radio to get an "acquired taste" of them.

This is a ridiculously terrible poll. You leave out black sabbath and put in godsmack? You leave out Alice in Chains, whom godsmack started as a cover band for?

you suck

Another vote for 80s Metallica before they went all ZZ Top (nothing against ZZ Top) and sued Napster. They're dead to me now. As dead as Led Zeppelin.

Anyone ever seen Manowar in concert?

Hehehehe. I think I walked out of there with a concussion and brain matter seeping from my ears.

😀

OTHER BANDS PLAY, MANOWAR KILLS!!!

Yeah, Manowar live > most anything.
Though Rammstein live is something for the gods to behold 😀

In the end though, Iron Maiden > *

Will be seeing Priest in about a month by the way 😀

Oh and I agree 100% Pacfanweb.
Nu-metal sucks.
Too bad many people stop listening to the newer stuff entirely, there's still good stuff coming out, anyone who loves Manowar would do well to listen to Majesty.

Iron Maiden > Manowar > Old Metallica > Priest/Sabbath > Lots of stuff > New Metallica > Other nu-metal > Slipknot 😀

There is a lot of great metal out there, but most of it is from European bands and gets no air play in the states. Now if only nu-metal would just go away faster...

Lethal

Nightwish. End of story. A single north European goth metal band > All your pansy little American bullshit combined.

Arch Enemy owns Nightwish. Angela Gossow could kick Tarja Turunen's ass any day 🙂

That's because Angela is really a man.
Looks like a man and sounds like a man == is a man.

I did in my post on Page1 (for me at least; I view 100 posts per page). I gave them props, but they're not my favorite.

Oh, and Sunner, I don't know about you, but I think Angela Gossow is not too shabby lookin' myself 😛

I've only seen her live, and at the time, she sure looked either like a rather masculine chick or a feminine guy 🙂

WAR FOR TERRITORY!!!!!

Last Pantera concert I went to (Revinventing the Steel tour) Morbid Angel and Soulfly opened for them. Max Cavalera IS Sepultura and Soulfly. Both bands rock. Soulfly had a drum solo where they brought out about 25 people with kongo drums. INSANE!

BRING THE DRUMS!!!

everyones bashing godsmack but i went to X-fest where they played as the finalie, sully was on drums and they had like 4 drumsets total on stage with like a 11 minute drum solo going and it was insane they had big pillars that came up out of the stage with teh drummers on top and dancers on poles 🙂 it was sweet

Well, I do suppose you have better credibility; I've only seen her videos/promotional photos which were probably done specifically to make her look more feminine 🙂

Either way, you can't deny she has a monster set of pipes. And very good enunciation for a death vocalist too.

I wouldn't say I have alot of credibility, I don't like AE, so I didn't stay, it was at a festival and I heard something that kinda sounded like a guy, only not entirely, so I was like "WTF?!" and had to take a peek 🙂

I went on to see Gamma Ray instead 😀
