What is the best Linux browser for you?

I've installed Mandrake 8 and I am comparing Netscape, Mozilla and Konkeror.

I guess Netscape is the worst (and my scroll mouse doesn't work with Netscape). I can't read the pages, because the characters are poorly displayed. Konkeror is not bad, but some pages are displayed with some characters in a very strange shape, it does not accept my webmail login (very strange) and when I browse into the forums, at each "enter" a dialog box pops up telling me that the connection to host "...xxxx..."is broken. Mozilla seems to be the the most regular, even though the characters looks more jagged than in Konkeror (where the characters are more "antialiased").

Windows is miles and miles ahead, I must confess.

What is your opinion?

I go back and forth from Opera to Mozilla.. haven't figured out which I like better yet. Though I do love Opera for windows.

Me too. But most of the time I use Konqueror anyhow.

Heh. Funny. I'm running Opera on Woody. Only problem is you can't post to the forums here with it. However, PMs work just fine with it.

They all suck IMO. If a good browser was released I would spend more time in Linux but until then I'll stick with IE.

I installed that browser too, but I haven't yet found time to play around with it :)

It certainly sounds like a cool browser.

i like konqourer myself, very IE like but I think you need KDE installed to use it. Even though I'm a netscape fan, I dont like it in linux.

I am not a linux user, but Ill throw my 2 cents in from the Open/Free Operating system front. Netscape is the best. That is the bad news. I have not tried mozilla in quite a few releases. From what I hear it does not port well to other operating systems. I love opera for windows and I plan on trying the linux version (thank god for linux emulation) soon. Konquer looks nice but the KDE requirement is a little more than I want to deal with (blackbox rocks). All in all, netscape is the most complete of the browsers out there. lynx is one of the easier browsers, although not as useful for casual browsing. Whatever browser everyone chooses, they should just be thankful we don't have to deal with IE...

Konqueror currently rules in Linux. Dillo could be pretty good given more development time (it's not very far along but I see a LOT of potential in it. Esp, from the dev mailing list).

I have heard a lot of good things about konquerer but I do not need all of the kde parts installed on my machine. Eventually I will get around to trying it out, but for now netscape is fine for me, and apparently only me ;)

mozilla is ok, the fonts arent great though. Seems to be the most compatible as far as linux browsers are concerned.

Compatible? It will be more compatible with websites as soon as site designers learn what they are supposed to be doing. Check the w3c site about how many mistakes there are in any given website. There are quite a bit on most sites.
