Looks like the new Tuniq Tower Extreme is indeed a winner. For a moment there I thought you were recommending the old Tuniq Tower 120, but thankfully, you were not doing so.

I'm willing to bet that identical systems using a highly O/C O/V i7 CPU with HT ON 4.4GHz with 1.5 volts (extreme case!) that the Megahalems would put that Tuniq to shame. Five heatpipes vs. six. Additionally HDT quickly loses its appeal with more than three heatpipes since they are spread out too far. The block on the bottom should at least be a better conductor. (such as copper)

You have to wonder how big the contact area is on their simulator.

How much better will that Fry's water set-up do compared to an NH-D14? I've got a Fry's really close by, and if it destroys it then I might as well go for it, but not if it's only getting 5%-10% better temps.

EDIT: God I'm insane, I only put this thing in a few days ago and already I'm looking for better options. I should be happy with what I have, especially considering it'll do the job I need it to do just fine. But still, would like to know out of plain old curiosity.

Think theres air coolers that beat it but overall i would say the corsair H50 is great! Its quiet, cools great, smallish. Not as easy an install as they would have you believe, but thats the case with pretty much every high end cooler ive ever tried, the old SI-120 for socket 939 was murder to install/take off, 1366 stock heatsink was easy enough though :)

wish I saw this thread earlier, keeping my fingers crossed. In the even that I do find one still left, do these come with s1156 mounting clips?

no, but if u email debbie @ danger den, she handles the rma and services, she can send you one out the next day.

Although i really recommend u just changing the cpu block entirely.

You will get a much better experience with a more modern block.

The 1600RPM is the stock fan of VenoX, and the 2500RPM is the Silver-stone FM123.

Those are pretty high load temps with a mega. What is your ambient room temp??

You have to wonder how big the contact area is on their simulator.

According to Frostytech's own info, the AMD hotplate is a 38mmx38mm copper interface die. The Intel hotplate is 30mmx30mm.

The maximum heat load for the Intel testbed is 150W . . . so you're saying you think the Megahalems/Megashadow would do better at higher heat loads? Also, I don't know that # of heatpipes is necessarily the most relevant factor, since there are HSFs out there with more than six heatpipes, such as the Scythe Orochi, that fail to outperform HSFs with "only" 4-6 heatpipes.

Still, it would be an interesting test. We've already seen evidence that the Venomous X is inferior to the Megahalems in this thread, so . . .

guys i got confirmation from some guys on XS.

Some of the Frys still has the Kits in stock.

Im telling you, you are never gonna see a deal like this again.
The pump alone is 75 dollars.

If any of you guys do decide to go out and buy this kit, PM me.
I will be more then happy in assisting you on how to set it up after you've read my sticky linked in my sig.

But most likely you wont need help, its not that hard, it just takes a lot of patience because u dont want to rush the install on your first job.

I checked both Fry's locations near my place before I settled with Mugen 2. Too good of a deal I guess it was, the clerk told me they sold out in no time.
Oh btw, where do you guys get your getntletyphoons from? Are the nidec-built ones are better? For now though, I am gonna try to make use of the stock fan that came with Mugen 2 see how well it cools / how loud it gets.

The best place I have ever gone is svc.com. Good prices, and they ship fast.

I'll find out soon enough. ;)

Tuniq Tower Extreme number one? That's the laugh of the day!

Only comes down to three choices: Venomous X, Megahalem, or Megashadow (basically a Megahalem that's lived in the hood for some time. Shizzle yo).

H50 is good....but more things can go wrong with watercooling, even self-contained kits, than air cooling. And I've just returned to air cooling after some months of custom water cooling. Though I'm not happy with the difference in temps, at least I know nothing can leak!
