I want to try to run at 4ghz stable on my I7 920.
I no this isn't always something you can do because of factors like one cpu will clock better than the other and may have the wrong ram and so on, but i want to be sure that my cooler for my cpu isn't the problem.

I want to stay away from water cooling at this point in time maybe will try to water cooling later on on when I have the funds too.

Thanks for the reply, I just noticed I may have opened a question that was to much of a opinion and don't want to start a flame ware as to what is better than this, was just looking for some good feed back before I by something.

Prolimatech Megahalems Shadow has been the best for me so far.

just read were the advantage the venomous might have is in the mounting bracket. You can adjust the pressure from corner to corner I believe after it is installed.

I can only say that I love my megahalem. I used to be a lover of the TRUE extreme, but the mounting on the mega is way better, and I think it cools better also. The shadow and the Venomous I have not personally used, but they look good.(as in probably better)

The Noctua NH-D14 looks like it may be a quit also I hate it when I hear my CPU fan rev up when I try to play a game or something that is more stressful to the CPU.
I have read some decent reviews on the Corsair H-50 also but nothing compared them to ones mentioned above.

The DD h2o kit going at frys for 69.99 will spank hard core ANY air kit you buy.

Even with the out dated TDX.

Drop in a newer cpu block, and you will not look back at air unless ur a lazy person who doesnt want to try water.

Going to do some searching on the web to see if I can get some comparisons on the h-50 and the Noctua NH-D14.
And by the way thanks for not making this into a flame war.

Do you have links or more info on that water kit ? I don't know what DD refers to, exact model numbers etc would be appreciated.

I am not sure I have enough power left to run a WC set up my Cooler master Cosmos case will defiantly accommodate one.

I am running 2 SSD Drives one WD black terabyte drive one Raptor 300 gig and 2 ATI 5700
with a Corsair 750 PSU

Its seriously a STEAL at that price.

The D5 alone is a 75 dollar pump.

i can say in a COSMOS, that kit is almost 100% drop in compatible.

Mount the rad up top like the COSMOS was designed for.

The water kit Aigo recommended above looks really really good. There is also the worse performing but cheaper Corsair H-50 for $63:
http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=10011514&prodlist=celebros

I would say performance wise you cannot go wrong with any of these air coolers:

#1 Noctua NH-D14
#2 Thermalright IFX-14
#3 Venemous X
#4 Megahalems / MegaShadow
#5 Thermalright Ultra Extreme
#6 Titan Fenrir
#7 Scythe Mugen 2

Bang for the buck though I would probably either go for Scythe Mugen 2 for $40:
http://www.heatsinkfactory.com/scythe-mugen-2-rev--b-cpu-cooler---scmg-2100.html

or the TRUE for $48:
http://www.svc.com/u120e-rt-775.html
Includes free BTK-1366 Thermalright LGA1366 Bolt-Thru Mounting Kit

Just curious has any one seen the Corsair H-50 compared to the ones mentioned above?

I am leaning towards getting one of these 3 though Noctua NH-D14, Venemous X
or the Megahalems / MegaShadow.

Will depend on what one I can find for the best deal.

And many thanks a lot of good info in the thread.
