i want the best, my back is killing me, yes im losing weight so i know thats part of it but still, i want the best. atot, what should i buy?

What's your budget?

I'm sure you could spend tens of thousands on a chair constructed out of exotic materials and fitted to your exact body if you want "the best". On the other hand, if you're looking to spend several hundred, hit up Amazon and look at Herman Miller or steelcase like BlahBlah said.

Use this chair at work. Awesome, awesome chair. Luckily the company over bought and I snagged a couple for far less than retail.

We use those at work as well and they're awesome. I found a used one on CL for quite a good deal, so I snagged it for home; definitely the best home office chair I've ever had. I don't have PostureFit though and honestly, I tried it, but like the regular lumbar pad better.

is there a certain type that is better for ones back?

Knoll makes some with better lumbar support. My 12 year old ( thats right 12! ) chair looks like hell and needs a new lift but I cant find anything that's as good for my back. I'd hit up an office furniture store and look for the returns. You could pick up a 500 dollar chair for 50 bucks and some look brand new.

I have a giroflex chair. It's comfy.

Anyway it depends on your budget. Office chairs can get really pricey. Cheap ones suck.

Maybe you should go to a superstore and try out some different kind of chairs, then order online.

Yea, I use the one with the lumbar pad at work and home. Didn't we have an office chair thread like a month ago?

I tried a lot of chairs looking around and ended up with a Steelcase Leap. That said I'm not entirely happy with it. The back part is awesome, best I've ever had. It could use a bit more ass cushion though. The armrests have a very wide range of motion, however it's not enough and you can easily find cases where they just won't support your arms right because they're too short. Also, if you have a tendency to slouch a lot like maybe if you're using it at home and watching a movie on your PC or something the chair is virtually worthless. That said, it's really an ergonomic office chair so you shouldn't be doing that anyway. If it's for work you'll like it a lot more than if it's for home.

Humanscale Freedom was my #2. The ass was much much better than the Leap, the back was probably a wash, but the chair did not have adjustable arms. The biggest flaw with this chair was that unlike the Leap, where the seat slides forward when you lean back to keep your posture correct, the Freedom seat stays stationary. That pretty much made me scratch it off the list altogether.

Aeron I did not like at all, Humanscale Liberty I felt sucked, and Steelcase Think I felt sucked also.

I personally can recommend the swopper, a stool which allows three-dimensional movement and helps to strengthen your back. It is quite expensive but worthy: http://www.aeris.de/en/swopper
