What is the best DVD player?

I'm surprised that with all the hype around Windows XP, it won't allow me to play DVDs out of the box.

I have a Geforce 3 Ti-500 and would like to play DVDs on my pc. Any recommendations?

You can download the WM8 dvd pack from here. This enables dvd playback in windows media player.I have it installed but havent tested it yet.If someone could teast it and post back, I dont have a dvd movie to use.

The Pioneer 106S - Slot load DVD is real nice IMHO. 16x/40x and I don't miss the old tray loaders. Some say it can be a bit noisy, but I don't notice a difference. It is $63 (OEM) at NewEgg. Good Luck!

EDIT: I guess I misread. DVD player! 😀 WinDVD is usually pretty good.

Yes PowrDVD and WinDVD are both good. I use Win DVD,but these cost $. Im curious to see how the free WM8 dvd add on pack is when it comes to quality. ( Ill rent a movie tonught and post my opinion on it)

What i do is use the program that came with my DVD decoder card. I have a Realmagic MPEG card and it has a DVD Station that outputs to a TV. Look into that maybe.

I just tried WM8 dvd playback with Ninja Scroll and it works fine. Quality dosent seem much different from windvd. It dosent seem to have a buttload of features, but to me that dosent really matter, I just watch a movie.
