Is it deleted/missing or just corruption/instability/dead drive?

I've used DiskWarrior but really just booting off the OS install media and running a disk repair has done more successfully for me than anything else.

Will that recover files that were moved from the original source?
Moved some files but the hdd it was moved to got corrupted. Original HDD has remained untouched since then.

Free would be best. Anyone know?

I either pull it from Time Machine or from one of my two alternating bi-weekly external backup drives. If that does not work, I grab it from my monthly offsite backup.

Sorry for the late reply. Some guy either re-installed or upgraded the operating system and now all the files are gone. We also have a WD Playbook that has incremental backups but the folders have empty files or the files are missing altogether. I don't know how to use Mac OS X.

If this computer was purchased in 2006 or 2007 and it was never upgraded, does that mean it did not come with Time Machine? If not, how is it doing the incremental backup (there is a Western Digital My Book connected to the computer)? What software is doing this?
