Amex anything. Their service and benefits bring it up and above everyone else. I solely use it except at those places who don't accept it.

I didn't see you respond to whether you wanted cash back or travel rewards, but generally you get more value /dollar by going with travel rewards.

PS. I just got done researching rewards credit cards and nerdwallet.com/ had, IMO, the best layout of all the sites I visited. I also like that it's configurable to how much you spend/month, your ave credit rating, and then translates that into first year and annualized rewards in dollar amounts.

Amex does give good service but some of the yearly fee cards for MasterCard/Visa also have very good service. I personally use the Barclay MasterCard Arrival card (the one with a fee). The service is comparable to mastercard and the rewards program is probably the best in the industry right now (short of paying 400-500 a year for the Amex card). That said it's not for everyone I run $25,000 a year minimum through my CC so the fee is no big deal.

A lot of the cards mentioned in this thread are probably best for the OP.
