Yes I did a search, seems like Panasonic doesn't make good cordless phones, but this one caught my eye

Panasonic 2.4GHz Digital Spread Spectrum Cordless Phone

Just need some more opinions before spending $250 on a phone

edit: changed title cuz kinda confused...yes I did search and people like the V-tech one, but just asking one more time

I've got it and I wouldn't recommend it.

The phone is to small and you really need to have it on the right place on your ear or you can't hear anymore. The range isn't that great either compared to my other 900mhz phone.

I'm a Panasonic cordless phone zealot ever since I purchased a 49 MHz Panasonic from Sharper Image for $129 about 8 years ago, that phone withstood a lot of daily abuse and worked like a champ for over 8 years. I don't think any other phone manufacturer can touch that.

However I've heard nothing but complaints about almost all of Panasonic's 2.4 GHz cordless phones, so if you're going to spend that kind of money you want to buy quality, clarity, security and distance.

Check out Uniden, Toshiba, Sony and Seimens.

Here's some resources to help you make your decision. Again I would avoid any Panasonic 2.4 GHz cordless phone:

<< go in for a 900 MHz

they are better and cheap ....I have 2 SONY ones.....
>>

That's another option, I have a Panasonic 900 MHz analog (not DSS) I bought for $69 from CostCo B&M, it's rugged, dependable, great clarity, good range, dual keypads and will probably be around for a while.

I have the KXTG2580-S. It's a great phone and I never had any reception problems with it.

I've had both a Panasonic 2.4G and a Sony DSS 900mhz and I found the Sony to be better both in range and clarity. I could use it in my school's college center, which was about a 2 minute walk from my dorm with no problems. One thing though is that the Panasonic was a refurbish so that may have had an effect on the quality.

whatever you do, stay the hell away from the new Sony Qudrastations 2.4ghz series.
bought them and returned them. Man do they suck, you get randomly cut off during the call. no wonder why they were giving a free extra handset with the purchase of the base unit.

I currently have a GE 2.4 GHz that I bought for $30 from OM. It works fine, and has caller ID display, and works really far away..I'd guess about 100 yards. Its not the highest quality though, the buttons are kinda hard to push, and its not all that clear (although definitely good enough, espically now that I'm used to my cell phone). I wanted the VTech 2.4 GHz - look really cool and have lots of featrues, and lightweight, but I couldn't justify spending that much $ on a phone, espically since next year I may not even have a landline :)

Eight mile range in open terrain!! I'll take it! $348.00! Ooh, no I won't :(

Ditto what jsbush said. Those tiny 2.4GHz phones drive me crazy. I bought a Panasonic like that and had to return it for that very reason. I don't know how people can stand these eensie cell phones!

I do agree Panasonic is first choice. 900MHz DSS would be great. We own three Panasonic 900MHz cordless and one Uniden TRU346 2.4 GHz. The Uniden was a great buy, but still is the least favorite due to size and usability.

I had a Sony 900MHz purchased as a hot deal. Matter of fact I had 3 of them. Had to return or sell them all because your voice sounds poor to the party you're calling. Sounds like you're in a box or something.

You can get this AT&T 1782 2-Line Digital Answering System with Caller ID/Call Waiting for $39.00 at the most. I found it at Staples B&M for only $29.00 regular price. It has the Talking Caller ID and tons of other features. Then just get a normal Panasonic® KX-TC1703B 900MHz for $49.00, add a coupon and make a real deal out of it!

I have a cheap Sony 900Mhz DSS, SPP-9001. It sells for $59 here. It has a good battery life, it's not too small so you can hold it with your shoulder.... and I can go in my friend's appartment and the reception is still clear

Another recommendation for a Panasonic 900mhz DSS phone. Mine works great, range is fantastic, and phone is comfortable. A good 900mhz DSS phone is better than a crappy 2.4ghz one.

i would go for the either Vtech 2431 or 2461, very good phone, and the feature i like most is the speaker phone, which is on the headset itself. the siemens phone is ok, the battery life on it is not great, and it's not very clear if u stand out of range from the base.

Me too. I love this system. There is no where in my immediate neighborhood (yes, neighborhood) I cannot get good reception. I've had one of the handsets as far as 2 or 3 blocks away and it still comes in clear. In fact, I've never had a handset go out of range, or get flaky on me.

And having a speakerphone on every handset is GREAT for when you call customer service of someplace and have to wait on hold.

I can't understand what the advantage of a 2.4 GHz cordless phone could possibly be.

How can a signal that is easily absorbed, blocked, or reflected by just about every obstruction (including your own head) possibly be an advantage?

Do people understand that 2.4 GHz is the approximate frequency of a microwave oven? Ugh!

Did anyone notice that that eight mile phone runs in the 900 MHz range?

Frankly, I think that 2.4 GHz is little more than a marketing gimmick.
