I've never had a cold last more than a day or two, and it has always been mild (some coughing, some sneezing). But now I find myself at the end of a week with the worst cold I've ever had.

So yeah, what's your preferred medication? Mine is whiskey, but that hasn't been working :(

Remember you are only treating the symptoms, not the cause.
I like alka seltzer, but nyquil works well too.

Fire. Burn it out.

In reality, lots of rest for me and staying warm. Being in my warm room with some ventilation is nice. A stuffy room makes me feel like crap.

EDIT: Oh, and lots of fluids and soft lotion infused tissues are a must.

The annoying symptoms are your body's attempts to fight the disease. I've always wanted to know why people want medicine to turn those features off.

Zinc helps a bit by stopping the germs from multiplying. But at this state, they've already taken over and zinc won't do much other that stop your normal cells from dividing properly.

I usually just use time to cure my colds. If I'm desperate I'll use anesthetic lozenges with benzocaine.

Thin soups that aren't too hearty. Citrus-flavored candies. Orange juice. Cuddling, either from the significant other or the cat.

It depends what the symptoms are. I don't like to take medicines that have everything if I don't need everything. If you are really congested pseudoephederine is the only decongestant that actually works. You will have to get it behind the counter.
