What is the best CD-RW to copy protected CDs?

Lite-on 24X and supposedly 32X does SafeDisc 2.51, while my Teac 24X does not.

OTOH, the Teac is supposedly better built and I don't play games anyway these days. Apparently both do great DAE.

EDIT:

Guys, not all SD2 is the same. 2.51 is the trouble some version.

Woot! 5000 posts!

Actually my Lite-on 24X10X40 burns SD2 perfect.

You just have to have a program called "Betablocker" and CloneCD

You use CloneCd to make img of the protected Cd, and than drag that img to the "BetaBlocker" program, let the program patch the sectors and than use CloneCd to burn the fixed img.

Here is the program

But isn't that just like using a fixed EXE and cracking the program?

Not really.

The program fixes the bad sectors that the copy protected cd has.

I burnt IL-2 Combat Sim last night ( SD2 ) and the game played perfctly with the backup cd.

SONY CRX175A1 (24x10x40), while not listed under CloneCD supported writers, supports RAW-DAO96 and RAW96 (best modes). Works fine.

Well I think a DVD drive best for copying games.

But i have a cd-rom and it was slow and not that good.

So i put the protected disc in my cd-rw drive, made an image to my hd.. took less than 4 mins to do that. And than burnt that img, took less than 5 mins.

Not bad at all.

<< Actually this is the page I have been looking for SafeDisc 2 Compatible Writers List(without the use of CloneCD's AWS...) AWS being amplify weak sectors. >>

See my previous post. There is more than one version of SafeDisc 2. Version 2.51 kills copyability for most CD-writers, except for ones like the Liteon 24X (which I don't own). Medal Of Honour uses SafeDisc 2.51.

My Teac 24X is on your list and supposedly it won't copy this game. (Not that I really care much, since the last game I played was Unreal Tournament.)

My Teac is supposedly better built, but the Liteon offers better bang for the buck.

Guys, not all SD2 is the same. 2.51 is the trouble some version Eug how do I tell the difference? Is there a list similar to the one I posted that has proven working writers with SD2.51?

The Lite-on 24X is proven to be able to defeat 2.51. Compatibility with 2.51 is quite uncommon, so even if there is a list, it's gonna be very short.

I don't know how loud the Lite-on is though. If it were loud, there would be no chance in hell I'd buy it. (I like to back up my software, but games are not a big issue for me and little else bothers with copy protection anyway.) Plus there are a lot of reports of problems with the drive tray mechanism or something. RMA'ing them hasn't been a problem, but it does make me wonder about their build quality. Nonetheless, if you want the best bang for the buck for game backups, it seems the Liteon 24X is the #1 choice.
