What is the best budget headset for use in a noisy open offices sales environment?

The goal is that sales people can easily use the headset to make phone calls without being disturbed by surrounding noise and the customer also should not hear background noise.

• Headset should be under $50 each

• Headset should have a microphone that eliminates ambient noise (Digital? Noise Canceling? Unidirectional?)

• Headphone earmuffs should eliminate noise from environment (Closed? Active noise canceling?)

• Headphones should work on PC and MAC

I've done some research and found the following headsets, but have no idea if they are best in class or which one is the best choice:

I don't think active noise cancellation is plausible, given your budget. You'll definitely want closed air.

For extended office use, comfort will probably be a priority.

as per various user reviews, they aren't that durable though, as some of the plastic bits break easily

as long as the microphone is unidirectional, you dont need cancellation.

I think I have narrowed it down to

Koss SB49

I think the specs that are required are:
- Circumaural design
- Closed design
- Noise isolating pads
- Unidirectional Microphone with noise canceling
- Active noise canceling for the ear pieces is nice, but too expensive

Frankly I'm curious why you're using PCs to do the VoIP work instead of a dedicated SIP handset. Most businesses keep their VoIP separate from the PC as it's all too easy for there to be a software problem and then have the call disconnect.
