What is the best anti virus software to get?
I am getting a new Dell laptop. I am spending about $1,400 on it and want to make sure it last and remains fast. I want to get a good anti virus software for it but don't want it to slow my computer down, but I do want it to fully protect my laptop from viruses and hackers. I am willing to pay money for it so whatever the best anti virus there is is what I want. I will have windows 7 professional on it as well.

Google Microsoft Security Essentials. It's free as long as you have a genuine Windows 7.

I'll agree with this. However, Linux would be a bit better

As long as you don't browse questionable website (I.e. warez, porn, etc) and don't click on suspicious links in emails, don't use the Windows Admin account, you could probably go with no anti-virus protection at all and be okay.

AVG Free
Glary Utilities
Ccleaner
Secunia
Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer

The great thing about all of these is that their free!

The most important thing is to use them all regularly.

I use Microsoft Security Essentials and recommend that to anyone else looking for good lightweight virus protection.

I have been using Bit Defender Total Security 2010 and I have had no problems with it. It was pretty cheap too. I got mine for $30 for 3 pc's and 2 years.

I've been using Avira free version for several years now.
But black friday I'm pulling the trigger on Vipre to check it out.
