500 MHz
1 TFLOPS ( theoretical)
48 billion shader operations per second
9.6 billion dot products per second
Unified Shaders, SM3.0+
10 MB eDRAM (internal bandwidth of 256GB/s)

OR

550 MHz
2.18 TFLOPS (theoretical)
74.8 billion shader operations per second
28.6 billion dot products per second
Distinct Pixel & Vertex Shaders, SM3.0

Thanks

Pineapples are the best. Soooo tastey it's untrue, and goes well on pizza.

Sorry? You had a question? It depends on a hell of a lot of things, how the code is written, what the code is doing, how the drivers work and many, many more different factors.

Since you seem to be comapring the 360's GPU and the PS3 why don't you just say so?

ps3 is supposed to be better... but just because it's supposed to be doesn't mean it will be better. Sony has already hinted that the performance will be cut for the release. I'd stick with xbox 360... better games for xbox IMO.

it depends on how the software uses it, but yes, the second one will most likely be more powerful. However, it's hard to quantify graphics improvements - Wii's graphics are "2.5 times" the gamecubes - what the heck does that mean? it has nothing to do with framerate, in any case.

I thought the two graphics chips in PS3 and 360 were basically a 7900GTX and an R600 (with the 10 edram added) respectively.

I don't know what ass you pulled that out of. Sony did not hint they are cutting the ps3s performance for release. A major company, especially Sony would never something like that to a product nor tell anyone about it if it did happen. Cause that would decrease sales... And With the console only 4 months and 19 days away from release, This would said all over the place.

But according to every xbox360 fanboy. "Sony told them" that the ps3 will be 80% less power than than an Xbox.

<<<<This is the best xbox fanboys can come up with because they are threatend by the PS3. It is so stupid. So stop making of BS. I have to deal with this all over ps3 boards. Just fan attacking every ps3 fan and making BS info like that.

No PS3 and 360 only have 1 GPU but can hang with the best PC .How I dont know,
can someone explain how.

XBOX360 GPU is more powerful. You simply won't be able to do some of the things on the RSX that you can on Xenon (almost a DX10 chip).

Optimization.

Computer games have to be coded to be used on a very large number of different hardware platforms. As such they are harder to make bug free and harder to make run faster. When you know EXACTLY what hardware you are going to be able to use you can optimize for that hardware.

Imagine you had a game that ran perfect on one type of Nvidia card but ran like crap on all the others, and if you wanted to run it on an ATI you were SOL. Because computer game developers could never get away with that they have to make it work with a wide array of hardware. Where as consoles don't change and are set in hardware long before release. This allows developers to make very specific optimized code.

I read that 360 only has some features of DX10,and is missing the biggest 1 SM4.0.
This is just what i read, but if shaders play a big role,PS3s GPU has almost 2X more
per second.

I don't know exactly how much it supports but a lot of it is there (Geometry Shaders are available for one). On top of that it also supports its own additional features which are not in the DX10 spec.

The two numbers can't be compared apples to apples, what you are forgetting is that the XBOX360 GPU is unified. It should be able to keep all units busy at all times where as the RSX can not. Additionally the way of working with the chips is going be way different due to a different feature set. No way of knowing for sure until the PS3 is out though.

Will be interesting to see the next generation PC cards, ATi basically already has a first gen DX10 unified chip on their hands while NVIDIA needs a new chip and isn't even going unified...

btw where did you get the numbers for the RSX?
