I think you already know the answer to your question; just go with your gut feeling instead of dragging this out.

Samsung all the way. Sony monitors have not had the most reliable monitors, it seems like they have a reputation of going bad all too often.

<< Samsung SyncMaster 1200NF

WHAT'S HOT: Our judges rated the 22-inch SyncMaster 1200NF above average in all of our text and graphics tests.

They were most impressed with its ability to render subtle color and details in photographs. It also produced very legible text at small font sizes.

WHAT'S NOT: This monitor lacks a control for restoring factory-preset screen adjustments. Weighing in at over 73 pounds, it is heavier--and bulkier--than most monitors we evaluated in the same month.

WHAT ELSE: The shapely housing includes a rear-mounted USB hub with two ports, useful for connecting peripherals such as scanners or digital cameras. A handy, intuitive control panel swings down from the bezel to provide access, and then tucks away from view when not in use. The included BNC connectors (in addition to the standard D-sub input) will, in theory, provide for better signal quality to the monitor, though most users are unlikely to see any difference in normal use.

BEST USE: This great all-around monitor is a good buy for people on a tight budget who work with graphics as part of their job, or for business users who crave a big screen.

I like the Sony Trinitron monitors (not other manufacturers that use Sony's tube).

The E200 is nice...if you want bigger, stay away from the E series and go with the more expensive stuff--hell if price isn't an issue, go for the widescreen 21 incher.

I know that you are asking for up to 20" but I have to say that my Iiyama Vision Master Pro 510 (22") is wonderful. 2048x1536@85Hz. Beautiful colors. I have had it for a year and I have not seen a monitor that matches it. Really!!!
