What is the average cost of utilities for a 500 square foot apartment?

Assume that heating is already paid for. What does that leave, electricity? Is water/sewer/garbage already taken care of by the landlord? How does this work?

My water/garbage/sewer is included in the rent I believe. I guess it depends on the landlord.

My apartment is 800 sqaure feet and my utilties are as follows

70 electric bill with the A/C on 24/7
10 dollar gas bill, with my taking 2 hot showers a day and running the dish waser quite a bit
water/trash/sewage is all included in my rent

Without gas I'd say an average of less than $100 a month. With gas in the winter that number may double.

Our place costs about $20/month for electricity, with a computer on 24/7, TV on a few hours, lights, all that. Hot water is paid for, water itself costs like $30 every 6 months I think. Other than that we only pay for cable/Internet/telephone, which comes out to about $100/month or just less than that.

500sq ft shouldn't cost too much it really depends on where you live. I would think the biggest problem would be squeezing into the place. When I lived in a place that small my elect ran about $35/month, and I didn't pay water/garbage/etc.

So, how much do you pay in utils a month?

It averages around 80/month for electricity and gas, but my apartment is around 750-850 sq feet too. It's pretty high in the summer(due to damn 110 degree weather) and lower in the winter time.

My apartment is a single bedroom somewhere around 750 sq ft., and my bills are as follows:

Electricity: varies from $40 to $120 depending on the month (summer is EXPENSIVE, what with the 90+ degree humid weather here in Louisiana)
Cable: ~$100

And that's it. Water and sewage are paid for by the complex, and I don't have a phone line.

The average is pretty meaningless. Too many variables. i.e. what's the average cost to heat an uninsulated house in January? Well, if you're going to heat it to 72 degrees in Vermont, it's going to cost you roughly $1500 a month. If the house is in Florida, and you're happy with 68 degrees, then maybe 100 a month. Averaging those two numbers together - 800 a month - tells you nothing. Of course, though, heat is the one utility that seems to have the most variation.

However, how long of a shower do you take? How frequently do you use the bathroom? Compared to someone else who lives in an area with cheap water, you could end up paying 4 times as much for water.

Our electricity bill will probably end up being 70 bucks for this month, we've had the AC on a lot. Also, 3 computers on all the time. Internet, phone and cable is 50 bucks a month because I work for the cable company. Water and heat is paid for by the landlord.

$10 for gas? I find that one hard to believe. The basic fee to stay connected and delivery is more. There has to be some catch that you're not saying.

Yeah, that's what I was wondering too?

My apartment is 742 sq ft. I keep the A/C on 77, and the TV on about 8 hours a day (even more on weekend), and wash/dry 3 loads of laundry a week. The electricity runs $50/month. All appliances are electric, so I don't pay gas. Water is less than $15/month. I have digital cable and road runner from TW, and I pay $99/month.
