What is the 4g fee? edit: Any cool Sprint phones coming out soon?

I am a Sprint preferred member or whatever, so I can upgrade once a year and I want to get a new phone and the Evo seems like the Sprint phone-to-get at the moment..

My question is, though, that if I got the Evo, would I have to pay even more per month? I have the everything data plan I think or something like that...

Ok what if I don't want the 4g, but just want the phone? I don't have 4g where I live (state college, pa) I don't think, so itd be useless to me


on another note.. any new/nice 3g phones coming out soon for Sprint, then?

Any phone that can use 4G is going to have the $10 4G tax. Doesn't matter where you live or if you don't get 4G.

The Epic 4g will be out before end of Aug.
High end phone wih a sliding keyboard.
You will have to pay an extra $10 for this phone too.

Also I'd put money one the fact that every high end phone sprint releases will be 4G from here on out.

That kind of stinks. They aren't really the cheaper alternative with that fee, which considering I can't even get 4g and, when it does come to my state, I'll still be out of range. Hell, my phone roams a lot where I am anyways.

Hmmm the Epic 4g looks alright. I really like that it's Samsung cause that means it has that Swype texting. Do any other brands have that kind of texting? it seems real easy and fast...

Technically only the beta is available on ALL Android devices. Once it's out of beta there's a good chance it won't be available. Swype's business model is to get companies like Samsung to license the tech off them as opposed to selling directly to consumers.

I'll be interested to see if Sprint ever come out with a non-4G high end phone and still try to tack on the $10.

I doubt it, at least not explicitly like with the evo.

I also fear that all their smartphones from here on out will be 4g. Here's hoping not, because I also have no desire to pay the 4g tax, even if it does come to my state.

Ever consider changing carriers? Does AT&T or Verizon have better coverage where you are?

Speaking from a price perspective only, please show me a comparably priced plan from either ATT or Verizon. I'd love to see it as price is the major reason I won't consider other carriers. Keep in mind that 'minutes' on Sprint go much further than other carriers. It's basically unlimited for me.

Only 10 days left on my monthly usage and I've used 14 anytime minutes this month.

I guess I should have been more specific. It depends whether or not you need everything from the Everything 450 plan (the unlimited messaging in particular).

Yes, Sprint can roam on Verizon towers, but they limit the data. And Sprint vs AT&T depends on the area. While they may have issues in other parts of the country, AT&T is very good in MA (southcoast for me),
