Do you even know what "electricity" is? Most people don't, since the term is pretty meaningless. Or rather, has too many meanings - and those meanings conflict with one another.

Nope - probably part of why it holds no meaning for me - too broad a subject to grasp at a macro-level.

To narrow it down, I can implement all kinds of functionality using logic gates, but I just recently stopped turning off the breakers to change light bulbs. I enjoy reading about the physics of electromagnetism, but get nervous jump-starting vehicles.

So I suppose its the day-today, practical application of household electric that I don't really grok: AC vs DC, 220V, amps, breakers, junction boxes, grounded outlets, etc.

I've a BS in Computer Science, have taken many EE classes w/ labs, worked as an electrician's assistant one summer (running conduit, pulling wire, etc,) but I just don't "get" electricity. And it scares me.

Electricity is essentially magic as you dig deeper and deeper.

I don't understand how High School, Home-Schooled, & College students always feel compelled to give Stock Market, Investment, Home buying, and Handgun advice at ATOT.

While I do understand what you are saying while I was in college I invested a decent amount of money in the stock market, I bought a house, and I amassed a rather large gun collection.
