What is some free software I can use to add a title to a video?

I have a avi I want to add a title screen to before I post up on the net, what can I use to make this title screen?

Come on... your telling me there is not one freeware or opensource program that can put a title screen on a video file? Sure Adobe FX would do it, or the other million not free softwares out there - ...

can't you then take that raw avi and run it through virtualdub to compress to something else?

I remember trying that before and finding that VirtualDub wouldn't open anything made by Windows Movie Maker.

Ok, create title in Swish (http://www.swishzone.com/index.php?area=downloads&product=v2 , free to try for 15 days), export it as .avi. Then, either join in virtualdub or setup a playlist in media player classic.

create the title in Powerbullet (http://www.powerbullet.com/samples.html , free), export as flash file; convert that file to avi with bink (http://www.radgametools.com/bnkdown.htm). Then, either join in virtualdub or setup a playlist in media player classic.

other than that...i got nuthin'

the version i have lets you use avi
and i got no 1.5GB for 2 mins, it was normal sizes for the bitrates i selected
