What Is So Good About HYBRID CARS?!

Diesel fans, it's great stuff and all, but I wouldn't be cought dead with a Diesel unless it was on a Diesel Pusher, Semi, or 3/4-1Ton Truck, it's not practical, it's a lung killer, poor acceleration, expensive parts and a pain in the azz to work on. >>

and when you step in some and get it on your carpet.. what a mess😛 wide spread diesel.. hah right.

<< Anyway, a person expecting a Diesel revolution in North America had better keep waiting... >>

I'm not suggesting that. I'm just saying that why would 1 out of every 3 people in Europe buy a diesel if they were loud, slow, polluting, and smelly?
>>

B/C gasoline is so fuggin expensive over there, DUH! 🙂

You are correct, sir! (I can still smell a new VW diesel from a ways back. I know I can't be the only one.)

I've seen the Civic Hybrid. It's a Civic sedan with an IMA (integrated motor assist) gasoline engine.

Honda's IMA system is setup in such a way that serious mechanical failure of the drive train due to it being a new technology is nearly impossible. It's really not complex at all, compared to the Toyota, although the Toyota has the advantage of greater flexibility with regard to how the electric motor and gasoline engine work together.

Hybrids are still very new to the market. Honda and Toyota are leading the charge (no pun intended) toward hybrid vehicles becoming mainstream. That?s real progress. Turbo diesels, OTOH, have been around for decades.

Sometimes I can't believe how VW has so many people snowed by their admittedly extremely good marketing. I still think they?re just really pretty pieces of sh!t though (yeah, flame me, I don?t care at this point, I don?t like VW cars). It?s a really cheap company that builds in Mexico (cough:VW,GM). The best cars (from any company) are built right here in the US, or in Japan.

i would buy one if it cost half as much as a civic but for the price right now i would rather buy a lexus for what it is costing

Interesting that deisel and north america have come into the thread. Recently, a GM executive was making the case just for that combo. GM seems to be lobbying for some EPA concessions for that very purpose.

You must have an extremely perceptive sense of smell. "I smell diesel...hmmmm, Mercedes 300D? <<sniff sniff>> No wait....I got it! 1999 VW Golf TDI!"

And your reasoning behind this is?

Well, I guess if you're talking about Toyota or Honda factories that are physically located in the States, then yes. But there's no way the crap GM has duped half of America into buying is better than anything from Europe.
