He bridged a gap between societies and allowed open minded creation to spawn modern Rock & Roll.
In other words he set the ground work....he started it....

That said, his music sucks ass
He brought into the mainstream what a lot of minority jazz & blues musicians were already playing. He laid the groundwork for a lot of the music we listen to today.
But yeah, go ahead and say he sucks ass.![]()
Ya got me all wrong, officer... ya got me all wrong!
He was an incredible musician. He had the cahones to bring the music from black communities to white communities where it was shunned and present it in such a way that it was accepted by a few, then by a few more, then more and more, etc. He broke all the rules. He paved the way for open minds and open hearts in the music world.
Yes, he was a great man.
But listening to his music either puts me to sleep or bores me to death.

You offend me, Nik.(I'm never going to let you live that down.)

Like I said, the P. Diddy of the 50's, 60's, and 70's. Rippin' off other peoples' music and making it into your own![]()

If he did, at least he put some work into it. Not like say, punk bands of this day. They grab a mic, a guitar, and a set of drums and beat them to death while signing a multimillion dollar contact.![]()

I happen to know for a fact that he blatantly ripped "You ain't nothing but a hound dog."
You were saying that he never did covers or copied anyone else's work.

No musician that ever lived can make that claim. None!

He swung his pelvis and mobs of teenage girls wanted to get a piece of that. Enough said.
Look at the music of today thats popular with the teenage crowd - how much of that music is actually good? Maybe < 5% of it but people still go nuts over it because it sounds good/different.

Yeah, but we don't miss New Kids on the Block now that they're out of the scene.
