I read something about an auto-optimization option on the 680i boards that require components (probably nVidia graphics card and SLI-supported memory) to utilize the feature. I don't think it was an auto-overclocking feature, but it might have been.

Overall, seems like a gimmick.

It's pure marketing.

The EPP "SLI" memory is normal RAM that utilizes tighter timings when that option is enabled.

So basically it tightens RAM timings automatically via the bios, instead of you doing it yourself.

IOW, pure nV marketing BS.

It's made for people who want to overclock their RAM and set good timings, but don't actually want to do it themselves. I'm not quite sure such an individual exists - if you care about such things wouldn't you just go into the BIOS and set them yourself?

at least the xfire ones look sweet...:D
There is really no advantage to speak of, n7's comment only applies if you're a total newbie and aren't going to check the bios at all.
