FWIW, my mom's antivirus software (AVG) was crippled by a virus that my brother apparently downloaded on accident. Long story short, formatted the win98 and threw a copy of win2k on.

i mean.. they are generally more than 100 mg... and i haven't heard of a virus that big..

Maybe 99 mb will be garbage and the other 1 mb is the virus....That said, it isn't hard to avoid getting a virus. Either don't download software or scan everything before you run it.
