I do not want it for myself, I have an extensive music library garnered the old fashioned way, I bought the CD's. But I have a client whose computer was so infected by virus,I had to nuke the HDD, and the computer had Kazaa and KaZaA desktop installed by a yopung teenager in the family who seems to haveit in her head that she can do what she wants with her grandfathers PC. I want to protect this PC and have installed norton SysWorks'03 and XP Home with NTFS. I will set up seperate user accounts next week when the custonmer gets broadband.

I know Napster is dead, and I have heard Kazaa lite may be safer(I am not convinced) than KaZaA, and what of morpheaus? Whatdo you audiophiles use that avoids trojans, spyware and narrows potential virus attacks?

What is the difference betwen Kazaa lite and Kazaa? does one act as a server and the other just a client for downloads only? I am a novice at this.

Kazaa Lite has all the embedded spyware garbage removed.

i use it myself and like it better than kazaa

Thanks, I have downloaded it and tested it out. Seems OK, but one question. I was downloading a Cher tune, and then I saw someone was uploading redredwine from my computer. How do I stop that or at least control it so it doesn't interfere with other things I'm doing, such as my upload projects? It uses my limited uplaod bandwidth. Is my computer accesble for uplaods without my knowledge or permission at any time? I have a persistant connection, so this may be a problem.

Tools menu > Options > Traffic tab

Unless you disable sharing, all files in your shared folder(s) will be available to Kazaa users for download while you have Kazaa running.

Found it. I can control it from there then. I will allow sharing as long as I can be sure it doesn't get beyond that folder. Is that assurance possible?

Kazza lite works well, I've been very happy with it. But if you are concerned about virus protection... it may not be the best choice. The software downloads are filthy with them. I don't know if there is a mp3 only service out now, but if there is, it would be a safer choice.

I don't understand why people are concerned with kazza software downloads... i mean.. they are generally more than 100 mg... and i haven't heard of a virus that big..

and besides, if you're worried, scan it first before you use it.

You sure it was the granddaughter? Maybe grandpa made up that story after Britney_horny_naked_teen.vbs bit him in the ass.
