I know this organization is killing many websties and file sharing programs, but can someone give a little bit of background info on this organization?
How much of the money that I spend on a cd goes to the artist?

very quickly: RIAA is the corporation that controls almost all music coming out. They own the majority of the radio stations, 99% of the recording studios and record labels, and also manufacture hardware (that's why they are able to even consider protected CD players that won't play un-authorized songs)

RIAA = evil. They are only out for profits. CD's that sell for $18 only give the artist themselves a dollar or so. They are trying to restrict your rights on the CD's you own.

Oh, and the RIAA is a group of large buisnesses: Sony, BMG, Time-Warner, bascially any company that has to do with music.

Actually, Clear Channel Inc. owns a majority of the radio stations, and is in large part the reason why music has sucked since 1996.
